The Spen Minature railway has a new sign.

MEMBERS of a minature railway in Littletown are celebrating after they received new signs from a local factory.

The Eddercliffe SpenMiniature Railway in Royds Park, off Bradford Road, has received two new signs from the Hightown premises of fibreglass manufacturer Owens Corning.

The railway has been running for nearly half a century, and is a popular attraction among families.

Keith Ainley, Spenborough Model Engineers’ publicity secretary, said: “We have always had a good relationship with Owens Corning, they have helped us with maintainance work in the past, and we would like to give them a special thanks for donating these two signs.

“This railway is at the heart of the community and has members from all over West Yorkshire.”

The next train running will be on Sunday from 1pm-4.30pm. The railway is planning a ‘mince pie run’ for Sunday December 16 where families can enjoy mince pies and meet Santa Claus.
