Overnight raids at town's beauty salons

Burglars broke into beauty salons in Dewsbury town centre.

Regis Top Cut Hairdressing in Westgate and Bling Bling Boutique in the Arcade both suffered raids overnight on May 18 and 22 respectively.

Ashleigh Holderness, the manager of Regis, arrived to open the shop last Thursday morning to discover the culprits had crawled in through the bottom of the door after removing a glass panel.

Area manager Lyndsey Wright said: “They completely cleared us out of retail products and then just pretty much trashed everything.”

Around £1,000 worth of electrical equipment such as hair straighteners werestolen – along with a Make-A-Wish Foundation charity box and even the remaining milk and salad from the fridge.

“They need to realise the consequences and see how it affects people,” Lyndsey said.

“We’ve had to miss out on a day’s work. It’s baffling how they can steal charity stuff. The lowest of the low.”

A member of staff at Bling Bling Boutique, who wished to remain anonymous, said the culprits who carried out their burglary cost the business around £500 just to repair damage.

The burglars “booted the door down and broken the panel. They’ve stolen lots of hand bags and little bits and bobs. They’ve cut the wires from my cameras, so they knew exactly what they were doing.”

Police confirmed both break-ins took place and said that anyone with information should call 101.
