Photo competition celebrates Kirklees volunteers

VOLUNTEERS are being asked to help celebrate their work in the community by getting behind the camera.

Volunteering Kirklees is inviting volunteers and the organisations they help to submit snaps for a competition to mark Volunteers’ Week.

All the entries will be posted on the Volunteering Kirklees website before a panel of three judges chooses the winners.

The judges are local photographer Brian Cross, Volunteer Centre Manager Sharron Wilkinson, and local volunteer Alan Kitson.

They will be looking for pictures which inspire and celebrate local volunteering.

Ms Wilkinson said: “Local volunteers make such a huge difference to voluntary and community organisations in Kirklees. This competition aims to recognise the hard work they contribute and the time they give so generously, as well as encouraging others to get involved”.

The three best entries will each win a cash prize – £75 for first place, £50 for second place and £25 for third place.

To request an entry form, email vk@voluntaryactionkirklees.co.uk or phone 01484 226608.

The deadline for entries is Friday June 15.
