Officers from the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) and local police swooped on three business premises in Dewsbury and one premises in Artillery Street in Heckmondwike last Thursday.

The raids were part of Operation Leap, an investigation into money laundering and drug trafficking.

Cocaine and £5,000 in cash was seized from the Artillery Street Premises. Nothing was recovered in Dewsbury.

A man in his 20s was arrested in Heckmondwike and taken to Bradford police station where he was interviewed and bailed.

Raids also took place in Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Bradford when four women and six men were arrested.

Cars and guns were seized in Bradford.

Det Insp Liz Fernandes, who is leading Operation Leap, said: “This has been an excellent example of how coordinated activity across several police forces can make a real difference to local communities.

“This is an organised crime group responsible for peddling misery across East Anglia, living an extravagant lifestyle as a result of their activity.”

Det Supt Mark Lay, from ERSOU, said: “This is an excellent result for ERSOU which is the culmination of working with our colleagues from police forces across the country.

“It maintains our focus on tackling organised crime groups that operate across force and regional boundaries.”
