Rain forces fun run delay

THE weather has taken its toll on a family fun run which was due to take place this week.

The 5k Family Fun Run, organised by Legacy Sport as part of the Great Spen Valley Health Challenge, should have been held on Thursday October 4.

However because the fields at Spen Valley Sports College are saturated with rain water, it has now been postponed for a week.

Shaun Fox, from Legacy Sport, said: “There is no chance of the fields drying out by Thursday. Obviously, safety concerns must take priority so we have rescheduled the Fun Run for October 11 with a slightly earlier starting time of 5.15pm.”

The fun run is open to anyone of secondary school age and adults, and participants will be asked to donate £5 to the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

Email register:legacysport.co.uk for a sponsor form or just turn up on the day.

Immediately before the family fun run the annual Great North Kirklees Run will be held for children from the sports college’s partner primary schools.
