Skydiving hero
LOOKING DOWN ON THE CLOUDS: Michael Chippendale, below, during his incredible 17,000-ft skydive for Kirkwood Hospice.
A SPEN man has just skydived 17,000 feet in memory of his brother.
Michael Chippendale, whose brother Andrew died in Kirkwood Hospice, raised money for the charity, and said that the daring feat was one he would not forget in a hurry.
He said: “This is the first major fundraising activity I have done, and it was not one that I’ll forget too soon.
“I definitely couldn’t really repeat the words I was shouting when I jumped off the plane!”
Michael, who lives in Knowler Hill, Liversedge, has already raised more than £700 and paid tribute to staff at Kirkwood.
“I would like to thank all the people who looked after my brother at Kirkwood. I think it is absolutely brilliant that places like that exist, but they need a lot of help with funding, so I would also like to thank all the people who donated to me,” he said.
Michael plans to repeat the skydive next year.
