SLIDESHOW: Park's jewel in the crown
REVELLERS packed into Heckmondwike's Green Park for the Crown of Lights fifth free music festival.
More than a thousand music lovers enjoyed Saturday's festivities which included performances from 14 top bands and a host of entertainment for the kids, including face painters, circus tricks and a bouncy castle.
The festival was opened by 12:27 - a band made up of pupils from Heckmondwike Grammar, Castle Hall and Huddersfield New College, before a host of other talent took to the band stand throughout the action packed day.
Dewsbury 'D' Factor winner 2008 and Yorkshire's Got Talent winner 2009, Jade Helliwell, stunned crowds with her fabulous voice and local favourites Blister Factory did not disappoint with their energetic set.
Other highlights were Little Baby Cheeses, Crosscut Saw and Ryan Spendlove.
Organiser Donal O'Driscoll said: "I was so incredibly proud of everyone involved because they made it such a special day.
"The audience were fantastic, the sound and lighting engineers worked a dream and the security stewards quickly became an integral part of the festival team.
"They helped distribute more than 800 free programmes as people were entering the park.
"The bands were all stunning.
"It has taken hundreds of hours to organise but I could not have wished it to go any better on the day. We really have something to live up to now when we do the next festival on September 5."
