Organiser David Lloyd, of the Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club (YTCC), said: “It’s a beautiful car in superb condition and well-presented.

“Considering the weather we put on a really good show, I thought. We had a good footfall from the general public.”

It is the fifth time the YTCC, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year, has put on the annual show in Crow Nest Park.

The YTCC put the display on in conjunction with the Friends of Crow Nest Park, whose help is “absolutely vital” said Mr Lloyd.

The Friends of Oakwell Hall in Birstall organised Maypole Monday, which included country dance demonstrations by children from the nearby St Patrick’s School on the lawn.

The May Hosses – horses decorated as they would have been in yesteryear’s May Day holiday celebrations – were also on show at the free event.

The Friends group also ran a tea stall with homemade cakes.
