A young foodie got all the way to the final of a Yorkshire cooking competition.
Heckmondwike Grammar School pupil Mariya Younis, 17, beat off tough competition from all over the county to get to the final of the Rotary Club’s young chef competition – but was pipped at the post by a pupil from Knaresborough. The challenge was to make a healthy three course mean for two, costing up to £14, in two hours. The competition took place at Bettys in Harrogate. She said: “This event has been a terrific experience. I’ve had a great time.”
