One of Spen’s most iconic wedding venues has closed its doors, leaving some couples’ dream weddings now in tatters.
A meeting was due to be held yesterday to discuss the future of the Whitcliffe Hotel, which has been closed since Saturday, which could involve liquidation.
But Rushton’s Insolvency, which has been appointed administrator, has so far been unavailable for comment over what will happen to the hotel, with couples fearing their deposits could be lost and their dream days ruined.
Mel Hainsworth, who was due to be married at the hotel on March 22, said: “I was very upset when I found out about it. Nobody even thought to tell us that it had closed down. It is now a race against time to find another venue for the wedding.”
