SPEN singer Danny Bemrose is back in Britain following a whirlwind tour of the US which has seen his band’s new single propel into the top five of the American charts.

Danny, of Roberttown, is singer with Bradford-based band Scars on 45, and their song Give Me Something is competing with the likes of Adele, Jack Johnson, Paul Simon and Mumford and Sons in the Triple A National Airplay charts.

The band’s career has really taken off since one of Danny’s songs, Beauty’s Running Wild, appeared on the hit TV show CSI New York.

They were then snapped up by the Chop Shop Atlantic label in America and have now completed their first album.

The single Give Me Something has now been released in the US and on iTunes in the UK, receiving extensive airplay across the Atlantic.

The band has since been in great demand, touring radio stations across the States to promote their record.

“It’s been totally mad,” said Danny. “We look at the charts and to see us among greats such as Adele, Paul Simon, Arcade Fire and Florence and the Machine is unbelievable. We keep wondering why our name’s there alongside them at number five. It’s pretty amazing.”

The band – Danny, David Nowakowski, Aimee Driver and Stuart Nichols of Bradford and Chris Durling from Leeds – are now enjoying a well-earned break before heading back to America for the rest of the year.

“We’re just so excited to be doing what we’ve always wanted to do, it’s all been such a whirlwind and we can’t quite believe it,” added Danny.
