Stop laking and get this blocked drain cleared!

CUSTOMERS are having to wade through water 2ins deep to get to their favourite cuppa.
Yesterday’s torrential rain blocked drains, creating a deep puddle outside Matthew’s Coffee House in Market Street, Cleckheaton – and the only way to get to the door is by wading through it.
Owner Matthew Crowther said customers told him the flooding was putting them off coming in. He said: “I have been here for four years and it has always been the same problem. I’ve had Kirklees Council out four or five times and all they do is poke it with a rod and then go away. The drains need properly digging out. I pay high rates and what do I get – a lake outside my door. I am at my wits’ end.”
A Kirklees Council spokeswoman said: “The gullies have been cleaned twice in the past two years after which investigations revealed the pipework to be damaged. As a result, repair work has been agreed and this will now be given priority following the latest flooding incident and will be carried out before the end of January.”
