A HARTSHEAD teacher broadcast on national radio from a spot just 30 steps from the Buckingham Palace balcony as the Queen waved to the country.

Alison Bray, who teaches at Hartshead Junior and Infant School, spent three hours broadcasting from one of the prime spots during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations finale.

She was on air on BBC Radio Five Live from 10am to 1pm as the Queen attended a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Alison joined Five Live presenter Sheila Fogarty reporting on what was happening outside the cathedral and what the atmosphere was like.

The monarchy-mad teacher said she was on cloud nine after seeing the royal family go into Buckingham Palace and standing around 30 steps from the balcony.

She also covered last year’s Royal Wedding for Five Live after coming to the producer’s attention when she appeared on BBC Breakfast getting ready to go to London for the wedding.
