Three charged with murder
TRIBUTES have been paid to a former Liversedge man who died after being stabbed near his home.
Joshua Hirst was found with stab wounds in Hepworth Lane, Mirfield, at around 11pm on Friday.
The 20-year-old, who grew up in Liversedge, was rushed to hospital but he died shortly afterwards.
Three men have been charged with his murder and a 22-year-old woman from Liversedge has been charged in connection with the incident.
Dozens of bouquets have been placed at the spot where Joshua was found, yards away from his home in Grove Street, Mirfield.
One of those paying tribute, Scott Wright, said he had known Joshua for around eight years.
He said he had knocked around with the former Castle Hall School pupil on Norristhorpe Rec when they both lived in Liversedge.
“There wasn’t a bad bone in his body,” he said. “He did anything to help anyone.”
Neighbour Julian Bruce said Joshua lived with his parents Terry and Julie and that they were a very respectable family.
“He was a really, really great lad – both Josh and his brother John,” said Mr Bruce.
“Every time you saw him, he had a smile on his face. He always had time to speak to you.”
Arron Smith, 18, of Saville Street, Emley, and Jo Church, 21, of Redlands Close, Mirfield, appeared at Leeds Crown Court yesterday and are expected to enter pleas on August 20.
Nadeem Rashid, 20, of Lapwing View, Horbury, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates Court yesterday and will appear at Leeds Crown Court on Monday.
The fourth defendant, Kirstie Rainford, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with two counts of assisting an offender.
The 22-year-old, of Springbank Drive, Liversedge, will appear at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday.
All four defendants were remanded in custody.
A book of remembrance for Joshua has been opened at St Mary’s Church in Mirfield.
Those wanting to leave tribute messages can visit the church in Church Lane today from 10am-1pm and 3pm-8pm, tomorrow from 10am-6pm, and on Sunday from 2pm-6pm.
