A celebration of Batley was held in the town on Sunday.
The Batley Business and Retailers’ Association joined forces with other groups in the area to showcase the strong community spirit in the town.
Dubbed ‘We Love Batley’, the day featured performances from singers Adele Harley and Jade Helliwell in Batley Town Hall, as well as Indian dance troop Manasamitra.
The free event also included arts, crafts and poetry readings.
Other organisers involved included Friends of the Square, Batley Central TRA, Wilton Girl Guides, Batley Gujarati Writer’s Forum and Batley Ladies Circle.
Batley Business and Retailers’ Association chairman Andrew Marsden said: “It may have been a bit miserable, grey and wet outside but that did not dampen the spirits of all the people who attended this event inside the town hall.
“All credit to Kirklees Faiths Forum and Kirklees Council for bringing so many people together to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment together.”
