Pupils meted out justice when a classmate was put on the dock.

But it was all innocent fun, as they were taking part in a mock trial.

The children from Hightown Primary School have been learning about justice, and have had a visit from magistrates.

And they were then taken to Dewsbury Town Hall, so they could see the old magistrates’ court for themselves.

They all had parts to play, from witnesses to lawyers and magistrates to defendant.

The jury then had to decide whether the accused – Peter White – had a sheath knife in the park, and he was found guilty.
