IT’S been a hectic week at the Batley and Birstall News, and the new-look paper has now become the talk of the town!

The new design is all part of the paper’s “relaunch” to give all Reporter Series titles a more fresh and modern feel.

We went out and spoke to people in the town to find out what they thought about their new-look News.

Farhana Loonat, from Healey, said: “I always get the paper whenever I can, and I have been reading it for about 15 years.

“The new look is more modern – it used to look quite old-fashioned, but it now looks more like a national newspaper in its layout.”

Raymond Lockwood, a reader of the paper for more than 40 years, said: “I love it – it’s brighter and it’s a great layout. You can now easily see all the local news that is going on in your area.”

Cath Akeroyd, from Carlinghow, said: “I have always bought it to read about all the news in Birstall.

“The new paper is definitely more colourful but I would buy the paper whatever it looked like, as I want to know about local news.”

Judith Greenwood said: “The format is really fresh and modern, the photos are great and the health supplement makes me want to leap out of my chair and head for the hills!

“Congratulations to you all, it looks and feels fab. Now all we have to do is save our library.”

Our Facebook page was also packed with comments.

Julia Scott wrote: “Well worth its money, I don’t know what I would do on Thursdays if my routine was changed – I look forward to my chilling out time!”

Some readers might, however, need a little more time to get used to the new design.

One reader, Amy Starkey, said: “I am all for change, but why change something that is perfect?”
