UPDATED: Savile Road re-opened after stabbing

Police have completed forensic work in Savile Town after a man was stabbed.

Officers discovered the man on Savile Street at about 1pm today (Friday) following a fight.

Savile Road was closed both ways between Station Road and Grosvenor Street junctions.

A police spokesman said: “Police are currently attending the junction of South Road and Warren Street in Dewsbury this afternoon following an altercation in the town centre which left a man injured.

“Officers on patrol discovered the man on Savile Street at about 1pm who had been injured following an apparent altercation at the junction of South Street and Warren Street.

“He has been taken to hospital for treatment to non life threatening injuries and following Police enquiries, two men were arrested in connection with the assault shortly afterwards.”
