Shoppers in Cleckheaton would have been forgiven for thinking they had travelled back in time during a special festive market day.

Traders’ group Totally Locally held a Victorian-themed Christmas Market which attracted an estimated 1,000 people.

Traders from around Cleckheaton set up stall in the Mead Hall above the George pub in Parkside and got into the Dickensian spirit of Christmas by wearing traditional period dress.

More than 30 stalls were at the event, selling Christmas goods, refreshments, and even a hog-roast. One of the organisers Matthew Crowther said: “The event attracted over so many people.

“There was a warm and friendly atmosphere and everybody seemed to get into the festive spirit
