WINNER: Subbuteo under 12s world number one Coen Townsend.

A YOUNG football fan has been named the world’s top under 12 Subbuteo player.

Coen Townsend, 11, from Heckmondwike, earned the accolade after winning the Cardiff Grand Prix.

Coen took up Subbuteo three years ago and since then has climbed to the top of the rankings, winning seven international ranking tournaments this year. He is also currently world number eight in the under 15s category, England captain, and three-time national champion.

He is a member of Kent Invicta Table Football Club, set up by his family, which now has more than 40 members.

His dad Philip said: “He has had a stunning couple of years.”
