Littletown Junior Infant and Nursery School was visited by international theatre group Mighty Zulu Nation last Wednesday.

Children were treated to a performance of traditional Zulu songs, dance and drums before taking part in workshops about Zulu culture.

The visit, which complemented a school project on South Africa the children had been working on, aimed to promote understanding and respect for different community values and increase cohesion.

Deputy head Sarah Wensley, said the experience brought to life the things the children learned about in their project.

She said the children were ‘in awe’ of the dancers:

“They absolutely loved it,” she said, adding they’d all gone home and told their mums and dads about their day.
