Detectives in Kirklees are appealing for information following an incident which resulted in a man being assaulted and vehicles being damaged.
Officers were called around 1am yesterday, Thursday May 12, following reports of a disturbance at a car park off Cliffe Street, Dewsbury.
A 21-year-old Dewsbury man was assaulted in the incident and his black Honda Civic car was also damaged by a group of men.
Shortly before the assault, it is believed the attackers had followed the victim’s Honda Civic from the Shell Petrol Station on Batley Road, in two cars.
They were then joined by another two cars, resulting in the four chasing the Civic into Batley Carr and then back into Dewsbury, where the Civic pulled into the Cliffe Street car park.
The 21-year-old was not seriously injured in the resulting assault, and several vehicles were damaged in the incidents.
Detective Inspector Stef Wiseman of Kirklees CID, said: “This sort of behaviour is utterley unnaceptable and we would like to speak to anyone who has information. I would like in particular to speak to anyone who saw a black Honda Civic being pursed by four cars on Bradford Rd into Batley Carr and then back to Dewsbury.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault on the victim and the attack on his car in the Cliffe Street car park.
“Anyone who has information is asked to contact Kirklees CID on 101 or the independent Crimestoppers charity, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
