Man trapped in car after rush hour smash

A DRIVER had to be cut free from his car after it was involved in a crash with a pick up truck.

The accident happened in Whitehall Road, Drighlington, at about 4.30pm last Thursday afternoon, which led to the road being closed.

The Mini Cooper car was in collision with a Mitsubishi L200 pick up, trapping the driver, a 46-year-old man from Cleckheaton.

Police closed Whitehall Road during rush-hour traffic causing major problems for motorists and diversions were later put in place.

The Mini driver was taken to hospital with serious, but non life-threatening, chest and facial injuries.

The Mitsubishi driver, a 29-year-old man from Wortley, was uninjured.
