The Mayor of Kirklees is getting on his bike for Cycle to Work Day this Thursday.
The mayor, who is a Mirfield councillor, is a keen cyclist and will complete his commute wearing his specially designed mayoral cycling shirt, before attending a Citizenship Ceremony at Huddersfield Town Hall.
He said: “Cycling is a very important part of my life and I commute, ride for leisure and sport when I can. By showing that even the Mayor can cycle to work I hope will inspire others to leave the car at home and get the bike out.
“Not only will it save them money on fuel and parking, but it will also ultimately help their health by keeping them fit.”
Cycle to Work Day is a national event, championed by multi-gold medal winning Paralympic cyclist, Dame Sarah Storey.
