Man charged with toddler's murder
A man is due to appear in court charged with the murder of a toddler, police said.
The 18-month-old boy, who has not been identified, was taken by paramedics from a house in Woodgate Street in Meir, Staffs, to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire on Friday but he could not be saved.
Examinations showed he died as a result of head injury, a spokesman for Staffordshire Police said.
The man, 32, was arrested with a 29-year-old woman who has since been released without charge.
Neither has been named but both are from the Stoke-on-Trent area, police said.
The force spokesman added that the woman will receive support from specially trained officers.
The man has been remanded in custody to appear before magistrates in Stoke-on-Trent.
