A HAIR stylist to the stars has joined a recession-busting salon in Heckmondwike.
Michael Gale is settling into his role as art director at Revive having previously worked in TV, film and music, using his skills as a wig specialist.
He worked on the very first Harry Potter film as well as TV favourites like Coronation Street and touring with Tina Turner, Take That and Spice Girls.
“It was all a great experience and I am honoured to have been able to work with such well-known names,” said Michael, who is 42 and comes from Salford.
And now, his knowledge of wigs is being used to help cancer patients and others who lose their hair.
An original range is being created and private facilities for consultations have been added to the Croft Street complex.
“This is something we very much want to focus on,” he said.
Michael came to Heckmondwike through teaching the daughter of Revive manager, Hilary Patel.
“Preeti and I got on very well and after the course I went to Heckmondwike to see how she was doing,” he said. “I met Hilary and she made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.”
He has worked for Toni and Guy for 22 years and still has links with the company, running assessments for stylists.
“It’s going well here in Heckmondwike,” he said. “Revive is certainly bucking the trend of recession. It’s really amazing.”
Hilary Patel said: “With Michael joining the team we feel we can now offer clients talents normally found in London, but not at London prices.
“We are expanding and really positive about the future.”
