Paws for prayers

PARISHIONERS will be bringing their four-legged friends to a special service this month.

Scholes Parish Church will be hosting a joint service bringing together the churches of Scholes, Hartshead, Hightown and Roberttown – and the congregations are invited to bring along their pets.

The vicar, the Rev Richard Burge, said: “Animals play a huge part in our lives. Lots of people either have pets, or have had pets in the past and we all see animals around us every day.

“This service is a chance to bring our pets along and celebrate together!”

The service is on Sunday July 29 at 10.30am. Weather permitting it will take place in the gardens outside the church.

“Everyone is welcome, if you don’t have any pets, don’t worry, the service is for everyone!” added Mr Burge.

“We hope that people will bring their cats and dogs, their hamsters, guinea pigs or even their horses! I just hope it doesn’t rain, or people will think we are filling an ark!”
