CELEBRITIES are vying for the chance to pose in a giant pink shoe sold by a Wyke woman to raise money for a playgym.
Kay Bennett bought the shoe from eBay in the hope she could sell it on for more and buy a play gym for her Low Moor childminding business.
The Spenborough Guardian published her appeal for a buyer – and a public relations company came forward, buying the shoe to use at a top secret event to take place in the next few weeks.
Details have not yet been released – but the company revealed a host of celebrities would be lining up to be pictured with it.
She said: “The shoe sold for enough to pay for everything we need. We were so excited about the play gym. My husband wasn’t though, because he had to build it!”
Kay delivered the shoe herself last weekend using a van loaned free by Bradford builders Mitton Mechanical.
She said: “There were people taking pictures of it and filming it as they drove past.
“We put a tarpaulin over it but the wind got hold of it and it was flapping like Batman’s cape so we took it off. We just strapped it down and hoped for the best!”
Kay bought the giant fibre glass stiletto from eBay earlier this year, and discovered it had been made for New Look’s flagship store in London.
She had a number of enquiries about it – including one from glamour model Jordan, who actually rang Kay to talk about it but didn’t buy it – before selling it on to the PR company.
Kay said: “She was really nice and friendly. She wished me well and wanted to see more pictures, and that was it.
“It’s been fun from start to finish – I was quite sad to see it go!”
