A talking cat, a dastardly rat and a dramatic shipwreck made for pantomime fun at Batley Town Hall.

Carlinghow Theatre Company stormed the stage with Dick Whittington last weekend.

Company president Nigel Dixon enjoyed lots of laughs as brazen panto dame Dolly Dumpling, complimented perfectly by her slapstick son, Idle Jack (Richard Wayman).

Lisa Cockroft and Chris Hall’s comic double act as Captain Cuttlefish and first mate Scupper was another brilliant match.

Musical numbers ranged from the heartwarming Who Needs To Dream to the surreal but brilliant King Rat, performed by panto baddie Iain Harknett and his ‘ratling’ minions to the tune of Michael Jackson’s Bad.

With song, dance and lots of laughs, Carlinghow’s show looked almost as much fun to perform as it was to watch.

Oh yes it did!
