A COMMUNITY website with news, pictures and information has gone live.
Roberttownvillage.org has been put together by members of Roberttown Residents’ Association – and there have been more than 2,000 visits to the site in its first week.
Association member Mark Overend said: “The site was designed, written and is hosted by Wayne Baker, who owns a company call VC Hosting and is a Roberttown resident.
“As senior editor I have produced the majority of the content and have engaged lots of the village groups to provide content and news for the site including lots of pictures and events from the church and community centre.
“I have also added lots of useful links and I am actively seeking anyone with history of the village and any old photos that we can upload.
“I love living in Roberttown and I have really enjoyed being involved in this project. A lot of the businesses in the area have really been struggling of late and we have created pages for them all and they can choose to have their own page which they can update themselves. This is slowly getting off the ground.”
Mr Overend said as well as the site, the group also had profiles on Twitter and YouTube.
He added: “We really want this to be a community based effort and while I have put many man hours in, we want people to assist and participate with us to make it a success.”
