Whitcliffe Mount School’s planned £13.4m rebuild will go ahead on time, its headteacher insisted.
Reports emerged last month that the government was struggling to find private money for its Priority Schools programme. The batch of seven schools including Whitcliffe Mount was reported in one newspaper to be facing delays of up to a year. But headteacher John McGee said he had been assured that the rebuild would be finished by September 2016
Mr McGee added: “I have met the Educational Funding Agency and want to offer assurances to the community, the money has been secured and building will start before the next general election.”
