TALENTED teen Danny Dixon was the star of the Kirklees Charity Gala after wooing the judging panel.

The Oakenshaw youngster performed a powerful rendition of ‘Till I Hear You Sing from the musical Love Never Dies, to be crowned Student Showcase winner at the gala at the Galpharm Stadium in Huddersfield.

Danny has already found success as an actor, appearing in the daytime soap Doctors last year and trained at Stage 84, in Bradford.

The judges were Pulse Radio presenters Alex Duffy and Becky Holmes, Kirklees College lecturer Lydia Butterworth and Huddersfield Town legend Andy Booth.

Danny, 19, battled it out with other singers, dancers and hair and beauty students to win the top prize of a netbook computer, donated by Town.

Guests at the evening enjoyed a two-course meal and canapes served by Kirklees College students, before taking part in a charity auction to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Huddersfield Town Academy.

Danny will also be performing on Saturday Mary 26 at the Junction Inn, Wyke, from 8pm during a Help for Heroes fundraising evening.
