STAFF from a Cleckheaton firm pedalled from Land’s End to John O’Groats – without leaving their office.
The employees from the Lewis Group were challenged by the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Huddersfield to cycle the 860 miles from their office in the town, as their Dortech team of cyclists did the same – but on the road instead.
They took it in turns to notch up the miles on a static bike and as well as sponsorship, the fundraising included sales of Forget Me Not Jasper bears, bracelets and mugs, raffle and bbq which raised over £1,500 alone.
Hospice partnership development manager Jason Costello said: “It’s been fantastic working with the Lewis Group on this ambitious cycling challenge, having their teams based across the UK racing against our group of cyclists from Dortech pedalling on the road from Lands’ End to John O’Groats.
“The way they spurred each other on was fantastic. Without the help of businesses like the Lewis Group we wouldn’t be able to provide the services for the children and families who find themselves in extraordinary circumstances.”
Lewis Group managing director Dave Berry added: “We were delighted to be able to help such a worthy cause, our people really got into the spirit of the challenge and had great fun doing it!”
Lewis Group staff in Glasgow and Belfast also took part in the challenge for the charity.
