THE fatal stabbing of a Cleckheaton man just weeks after his release from prison has rocked the town.

Peter Brocklesby, 50, died from knife wounds to his back following an incident in Brooklyn Road, Cleckheaton, in the early hours of Saturday. Just four weeks earlier he had been released from prison after serving 14 years of a 21-year sentence for offences including drug dealing, wounding, assault, false imprisonment and kidnap.

Richard Oldroyd, 19, of Ravensthorpe, appeared at Leeds Crown Court yesterday charged with the murder of the 50-year-old and the trial is expected to take place in October.

Mr Brocklesby had been living on the Brooklyn estate for just two weeks after moving out of the Elm Bank bail hostel.
