It’s an event worth crowing about, and Hunsworth residents did not disappoint in the village’s annual scarecrow festival.
The village was choc-full of celebrity hay-filled guests including Andy Murray, Simon Cowell and Oscar the Grouch!
Hunsworth Playgroup also put together its very own scarecrow at the community centre – Goldilocks and one of the three bears.
The event was organised by Friends of Hunsworth – and Maureen Collings, from the Hunsworth Community Association, said the quality of the scarecrows was as high as ever.
She said: “Although we haven’t had as many scarecrows as in previous years, the quality has been so good that we think it will encourage more people to create their own scarecrows next year. We are very proud of the standard of the scarecrows, and the festival really helps bring people together in the village.”
The first prize was won by Paula Macdonald for a Grand National-inspired horse-and-jockey effort. She won a meal for two at the Savile Arms.
