IT’s not often that the Queen sends out more than one letter to the same person.
But Annie Lockwood is looking forward to her second card from Her Royal Highness - as she celebrates her 105th birthday on Saturday.
Annie, who lives at Willow House residential home in Hightown, can still remember her childhood and married life in Ossett, Wakefield, where she lived and worked on a farm with her late husband Fred and four children.
Daughter Jessie said: “She has said for years she’s not having any more birthdays. She has always said she’s got to this age because of hard work — when she was a farmer’s wife and before that she was in service.
“She has never had a wrong word to say about anybody. She has been a staunch tee-totaller. You could say she has lived her life by the good book and she has treated everybody as an equal.
“My sister-in-law said she couldn’t have picked a better mum-in-law.”
Granddaughter Heather said: “She used to say she would turn the numbers round but I said, ‘you can’t this time because you’d be 501!’”
Annie also has three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, Rachel, 15, and Katie, 12. Jessie said: “They call her supergran.”
