MAJOR historical events were the inspiration for a school show.

The 60s Rock, scripted by Spen Valley Sports College drama teacher Liz Dever, was based on major events which took place during the 1960s including Martin Luther King’s I have a Dream speech, the assassination of John F Kennedy, the Vietnam war and Woodstock festival. The school soul band performed 1960s songs by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan.

Deputy headteacher Kay Brennan said: “The comic duo of Aaron Ellis and Karl Sullivan combined to make a hilarious sketch based around an investigation by Austin Powers.

“It was a great show, to packed audiences, with the overall message of peace and love, making this show so groovy!”
