Tattooing their memory

MAKING AN IMPRESSION: Kim Walsh tattoos a poppy. (d511a245)

A TATTOO parlour in Heckmondwike will hold an unusual fundraising event inspired by Remembrance Day.

Ink Station, in High Street, is raising money for the Royal British Legion by giving patriotic locals poppy tattoos!

Nini Bradford is one of the artists who will be creating the poppy designs on November 15, and said they were already seeing a lot of interest.

She said: “We had 20 appointments for the poppy tattoos, and we only have a couple left – so it has been a very popular idea! They are really nice poppy designs, so even though it will be a frantic day, I’m sure it will be fun doing them – everyone is really looking forward to it!”

The tattoo parlour is no stranger to fundraising events, and last year raised more that £1,400 for Cancer Research UK with a similar event, and Nini hopes to replicate the success from that event.

“We have asked everybody who will be getting the tattoo to raise a minimum donation of £50, and with individual donations, we are hoping to raise more than £1,000 this year too,” she said.
