Teens threatened with butcher’s knife

A DRIVER threatened a group of teenagers with a knife after they remonstrated with him over his bad driving.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place in the car park by McDonald’s in Heckmondwike on Sunday evening.

PC Chris Birkenshaw, from the Spen NPT, said the youngsters, who were in their early teens, were in the car park when they saw the dark red Peugeot 106.

“It seems the driver turned a corner and nearly hit one of them,” he said.

“They remonstrated with him about his driving and an argument broke out. The driver got out and brandished what appeared to be a butcher’s knife. He was threatening towards the group and they feared for their safety. He then drove off. No-one was injured but they were quite traumatised.”

The driver was Asian, in his early 20s, 5ft 8ins tall, stocky with short black hair, stubble, and had a diamond earing in his right ear, and a gold tooth. He wore blue Adidas trainers, a grey tracksuit and a grey zip-up jacket. His passenger was an Iraqi male, similar height, lanky and with wavy black hair and a beard.
