A CLECKHEATON couple received an extra-special gift when their son was born on Christmas Day.
Otis James Yardley-Fear was born at 12.25am, weighing 8lb 1oz, after mum Lucie’s waters broke on Christmas Eve.
The now mum-of-three said she was playing a game of Monopoly with her two children when labour began.
“I’d felt a little strange all day on Christmas Eve, then in the evening my waters broke while I was at my mother’s. I rang the hospital who asked us to come in with a bag as they might keep us in – and indeed they did!”
Dad Edmund received the news while he was at home trying to put together the children’s Christmas present.
He said: “I was putting together their surprise trampoline when Lucie phoned.
“I left the trampoline half-finished and finished it on Christmas Day, when I had not had much sleep!”
Lucie said: “It was four and a half hours of labour and then he was here!”
The proud parents returned home around 10am the next morning to enjoy an extra special Christmas Day. Otis, whose name was partially inspired by soul legend Otis Redding, is now settling in to his Brookfield Terrace home with brother Finlay, five, and sister Elise, three, who adore him.
“He’s wonderful,” added Lucie.
