A PAIR of golf fanatics are planning to play from sunrise to sunset to raise money for Sport Relief.
Professional Jeffrey Whittham and Kevin Asquith, who are members of East Bierley Golf Club, will tee off at first light on Monday and play all day until it is too dark to continue.
Jeffrey said the pair were expecting to play for about 12 hours.
Jeffrey said: “We are going to play from the very first bit of light all the way through the day until the last bit of light.
“It should give us about 12 hours of non-stop golf.
“We are also planning on dressing up in outrageous 1970s golfing outfits and I have golf clubs from the 1970s just to have a bit of fun with it.
“We’ve made it an open invitation for any other members to join us and said they can come along and play for two or three hours with us, and get the members involved with it.”
Jeffrey said he had always wanted to do something for charity, and this year decided on the spur of the moment to do the challenge for Sport Relief with Kevin on board.
He said: “Every year Sport Relief and Comic Relief comes and goes and I have always thought about doing something.
“This year I thought ‘I’m going to do it this time’. I saw Kevin and told him we were going to do Sport Relief and he said okay!
“It was just a spark of inspiration.
“We both love golf so we will keep each other going.
“Everybody has been really supportive with sponsoring us.
“I am really looking forward to it at the moment but I don’t know how I will feel after six or seven hours’ golfing!”
The pair are hoping to raise £500 and have already started collecting money.
