A TWINNING project at two Spen schools has been a singular success.

Children at Hightown and Roberttown schools were paired off to forge new links. And the scheme went so well that many firm friendships were formed.

After making initial contact with ‘twinning buddies’ in a letter, pupils met for the first time for a ‘fun day’ at the Al Hikmah Centre in Batley. There were then four class-swaps where the children had days at each others’ schools. At a final celebration event at Hightown School, all the pupils led an assembly – attended by parents – to showcase their work. They also received a certificate and keepsake mug.
