UPDATE: Arrest made after man was attacked by masked gang in Batley robbery

A 27-year-old man from Leeds has been arrested this morning on suspicion of robbery after a man was attacked with a plank of wood before his Batley home was raided.

The robbery happened on Thursday, November 20, on Thorncliffe Road at around 7.30pm.

Five unknown masked men entered the property and threatened the 53-year-old man and other family members present, assaulted him with a plank of wood, before making off with a mobile phone, jewellery, cash and the keys to the family vehicle.

The 53-year old was treated in hospital for serious injuries. No-one else was injured during the incident.

The vehicle was recovered a short time later on Lidgate Close in Dewsbury.
