MEMBERS of the clergy proved they were good sports when they took a right soaking for charity.

The Revs Richard Burge and Jayne Lee volunteered to be put in a pillory at the St Barnabas Church garden party.

They were also joined by church warden Dennis Atkinson and visitors paid for the privilege of hurling wet sponges at them.

Gayle Lofthouse from Real Radio was present to sign autographs and there were stalls, games, mask making with Connect Housing and a tombola.

It raised £550 for church funds.
