ROBERTTOWN school staff and pupils are celebrating after winning a wad of cash in our fantastic Cash for Schools giveaway,

In partnership with Barclays Money Skills, we had £2,000 to give away to the school which collected the most vouchers. It was open to all primary, secondary and special schools in our area – and Roberttown was the winner.

Headteacher Sam Laycock-Smith said: “We are stunned – it’s wonderful. It’s an amazing amount of money that will make a big difference to us as a school.

“We shall ask the children what they want to spend it on through the school council, and think how we can make the money work for our school.

“It would be lovely if we could do something where the children can just look in school and see how that money has impacted on us.”

In order to win, Roberttown School collected the highest monetary value in bank notes per pupil.

Schools were sent Cash for Schools bank books so pupils could keep a record of how many bank notes they contributed to their school’s tally. There is even a special prize for the pupil who collected the most.
