ROBIN Hood stole the top prize but it was fun all round as this year’s Scarecrow Festival ended with Hunsworth decked out to the nines in scarecrow figures.
More than 50 entries were made to the annual competition with Jack Turton taking first place for his Robin Hood entry. Second place went to Spongebob Squarepants and Jedstraw – created by the Grundy family – took third place.
Organiser Diane Kenny hailed the festival and said she hopes for even more entries next year.
Money raised from the balloon launch will be split between Kirkwood Hospice and the village playgroup.
Duncan Tyers, who created a William and Kate entry, thanked the generosity of village folk for helping him raise £140 with a bucket collection outside his house for the two charities.
Mrs Kenny added: “It was a fantastic event and I would like to thank everyone who took part.”
