A talented young dancer is to appear in a production of a 150-year-old ballet.
Elena Scott, 10, from Liversedge, takes the part of a village girl in the English Youth Ballet’s Coppelia at the Grand Opera House in York next month.
Elena was selected at an audition in February from more than 160 young hopefuls.
The Headlands School pupil is training in dance at The Emma Coombs Dance Academy.
She is currently in rehearsals for the show at the Joseph Rowntree School in York.
Dancer Amy Drew, who takes the lead part of Swanhilda, said: “The young dancers we are working with in York have great energy and attack. Working in a professional environment gives the students a unique insight into life in a ballet company.
“Elena is so lucky – I wish there had been something like EYB when I was training! These are some of the UK’s most talented young dancers. They’re incredibly inspiring!”
