Huge success for Brontë event

Have your say

The Kirklees Brontë group and Brontë friends of Red House Museum, thank everyone for help and donations at the recent event at Red House to celebrate Christmas and the 200th anniversay of the Rev Patrick Brontë’s wedding.

John Appleyard, I and others have fought since save Red House Museum, going to meetings, and nothing was done to promote the museum so I put forward the idea of starting a ‘friends’ group for the museum in February.

It only took the Kirklees Brontë group and Brontë friends of the museum two weeks to organise this event.

It was a great success, so thanks to John Appleyard, the Brontë descendant Carol Fox, my daughter Catherine – an events and law gradute and others, Birstall and Batley Luddites Rotary member Alan Walker who stood in as Santa.

Thanks also to the businesses who helped or donated items, to Ken Philips, David Pinder and others who dressed in costume. Joan and Tom Pinder from Whitechapel Church, Cleckheaton, with a display board about Patick Brontë, musuem staff for their helpful ideas and the Spenborough Guardian, the Brontë Parsonage blog and the Brontë blog for promoting it,

We are looking into doing the event next year, so a big thank you to all who attended.
