The Heckmondwike Branch of the Royal British Legion would like to thank the general public for their overwhelming generosity and support to this year’s annual Poppy Appeal.
Once again we’ve broken all previous records by collecting over £12,700, which is brilliant considering the current economic climate we’re in – so well done Heckmondwike.
A big thank you must go to all those volunteers who gave up their time to collect in Morrisons supermarket and help distribute poppies to all the local businesses and schools in the area.
Special thanks must go to John Horwood and Patrick Lannen for their dedication to the cause and support before, during and after the Poppy Appeal. Without the help of all these volunteers we couldn’t have managed to collect such a large amount.
We would also to thank all the local businesses, schools and Morrisons supermarket for their support over the Poppy Appeal fortnight.
A special mention must go the Ink Station who held a sponsored tattoo event that raised just short of £,1000 for the Poppy Appeal.
The money raised will go a long way towards helping local ex-service personnel and their dependants.
We are continually looking for help with the Poppy Appeal so if you enjoy meeting people and would like to get involved next year you can contact me on 01274 869979.
