Another nail in town centre’s coffin?

I have every sympathy with Lesley and Rob Kilbey’s letter in last week’s Guardian and their dismay at Thomas Cook’s plans to close the Co-operative travelling store in Heckmondwike.

This is another nail in the coffin for the town centre which is still awaiting a decision on the building of a bus terminal and information centre in Heckmondwike.

But what annoys me even more is that Thomas Cook’s who are planning to close 30 of its stores in Yorkshire, leading to over 150 job losses, have announced that this cull should boost their company profits by more than £334m in the next three years.

What a disgraceful way to treat staff and members of the public who have been loyal customers.
